FAQs

What can I expect at HSCI FROSH 2016?

HSCI FROSH is an event organized by the Health Sciences Student Union (HSUSU) to welcome our new HSCI students to the Faculty of Health Sciences. HSCI FROSH is a fantastic way to get to know SFU, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Health Sciences Student Union in a fun-filled event that allows you to learn about all that life as an SFU Health Sciences student has to offer and a great opportunity to make new friends! It is an afternoon filled with activities to allow new students to build friendships with each other. It is also an opportunity for the new students to bond with existing students and find mentors to help them through their first year in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

What is included in the FROSH 2016 fee?

As a FROSH participant, you will recieve a FROSH 2016 t-shirt, an awesome swag bag and goodies, and entry into the social event at Club Illia to end off the night!

How can I pay for my FROSH registration?

You can pay via two methods: 1) Directly via PayPal (Credit or Debit) from the registration link, or 2) via cash during our designated office hours.

How is FROSH different from Orientation?

Orientation is used more as a way to get you comfortable the with the campus and show you around. At FROSH we are particularly focused on bringing HSCI students together through fun activities and create bonding experiences for you as a new HSCI student.

What is the difference between HSCI FROSH and the Science FROSH? Are they the same thing?

No, they are not the same! This is the 3rd year that the Health Sciences faculty is hosting FROSH event. In previous years, HSCI students joined the Science FROSH. The HSCI FROSH is specifically for those who are entering the Faculty of Health Sciences in their first year. The entire event has been planned to show our new students some of the most distinctive aspects of our faculty.

Can I still attend if I have classes at SFU Surrey or SFU Vancouver campus?

Yes! The HSCI FROSH is open to ALL students entering the Faculty of Health Sciences. This means students from both SFU Surrey and Burnaby. We do understand that since FROSH is being held at SFU Burnaby it may be out of the way for those of you in Surrey. We still encourage you to come as we strive to build a unified HSCI student body regardless of which campus you attend.

What if I have a class that conflicts with HSCI FROSH 2016?

We have tried to plan FROSH at a time that would be accessible to the majority of first year HSCI students. Unfortunately this means that if you do have a class conflict you may not be able to attend FROSH. Classes that end at 3:30pm will be able to attend without missing out on any of the event's activities! Those who have classes that end later on can email us to see if they would be missing any major activities, and you are still more than welcome to partake in FROSH!

Alternatively, there will be several upcoming events after FROSH that will allow you to get involved and bond with others as well. Stay tuned for those upcoming events by checking our website, and your e-mails!
